We are deeply humbled and honored to share that The Arukah Project has been voted Organization of the Year.
This recognition means so much to us — not because of the award itself, but because of what it represents: a community that sees the urgency of this work and stands behind it.
Sex trafficking is happening far closer to home than many people realize. Right here in Santa Cruz County, men, women, and children are being exploited and trapped. Every single day, our team shows up to help survivors find safety, begin healing, and take their first steps toward a new life. This recognition reminds us that we are not doing this work alone.
At Arukah, we walk alongside survivors — providing a safe, confidential place to heal and the practical tools they need to rebuild their lives with dignity and hope. It is sacred work, and we don’t take it lightly.
We are also excited to share news about our dream project: the Hope House. This transformative initiative will expand our ability to shelter, protect, and restore even more lives right here in our community. We would love your support in making it a reality.
If this work moves you, please consider making a donation or learning more about how you can get involved. And we’d love to see you in person — join us at the Awards Gala on Friday, May 8th to celebrate together.
Thank you for believing in survivors. Thank you for believing in us.
— With gratitude, The Arukah Project Team
